So far as I know, it's still legal to BUY SS benefits, but the sale sure does NOT legally bind the seller...and Congress is making every effort to plug this loophole so they can't be bought or assigned.

As a matter of fact, SS Administration will NOT in any way cooperate with the buyer, or knowingly honor any assignment of these. So, even if you or somebody you happen onto does make any kind of deal and pays anything at all for any SS benefits, the very next day,week, or year the real beneficiary can tell SS and cut the buyer off completely from ever seeing another of the SS checks.
