First off, the Stefanchik consulting is done out of SLC. There is not one experienced person among them. I know, this is my market and I get calls occasionally from their consultants asking me questions that show they know nothing about the reality of the discount mortgage business or marketplace.

I've said a thousand times. Research at the County Recorder's office is a waste of time and money. It's one of the biggest gripes I have had with Stefanchik and his materials. Actually, I know him and like him personally. I introduced him to his wife Heidi. He's a likable guy and a great salesman, but you could find about 1100 better uses for your 1100 dollars.

You mentioned researching on websites. You can spend probably close to an hour reading about Stefanchik on the www.papersourceonline.com website. Not much of it is favorable.

First, read all the articles here. Read the newsgroup here and others that are paper oriented. There is good information at: www.creonline.com, www.papersourceonline.com, www.noteworthyusa.com and www.notenetwork.com

All have paper oriented newsgroups with a little different flavor to each of them. There are also a variety of articles at each. Read the articles at www.wallstreetbrokers.com from Lorelei Stevens. Those are a must.

All that is free - and will give you a better education than anyone anywhere has promised you. Then, if you want to invest in courses, consider Jon Richards, Bill Mencarrow, Hank Harrenberg, Lonnie Scruggs, Lisa Moren, Terry Vaughan, Jimmy Napier, Russ Dalbey and others.

You can buy many courses cheaply on eBay if money is tight. Search under the people's names or at any time, there are 2-300 listings under real estate investment books.

Some of the older courses you can find on eBay can be great. Carl Abe's course is good for the basics as well as anything by Jimmy Napier or Barney Zick.

A couple people do occasional seminars but aren't much into home study courses. Peter Fortunato, Michael Meeker, John Schaub and Jack Miller come to mind.
