Shortly after the videos were recorded, the Jefferson Institute who promoted the seminar went bankrupt. They had made some poor business decisions and were left in heavy debt after dealing with a couple hucksters previously.

Then the company that marketed our consulting service decided it was a good time to hide what they owed us, steal our computers and mailing lists and torch our office building. All in all, a couple very interesting weeks.

We rebuilt the business and focused on a franchise structure and a public stock offering. We sold several National Note franchises and put hundreds of thousands into developing the business. A short while later, they changed the franchise laws throughout the nation and we were looking at having to re-franchise federally and in every state we wanted to sell a franchise. Many, many tens of thousands.

Some stressful years. After teaching a five day seminar, attending a seminar on the weekend and beginning a five day franchisee training - I ended up in Cardiac Emergency. Some surgery the next day helped, but still left me without the energy to continue on trying to conquer the world. In fact, continuing on period was a challenge.

So, I decided I'd let someone else become king of the note business and just do what I enjoy which is investing and being with my family.
