The "Multiple Listing Service" is not just one site, but hundreds. It varies state by state and there may be many in your state. There are three in mine for example.

Access to the MLS in most areas requires membership. The membership is open to agents, appraisers and some other real estate professionals. There are sites that are open to the public, but usually have only superficial information. www.realtor.com is one of those sites and there are many more. The loan type, terms and information are usually not included as well as some of the more personal information that is available at MLS sites.

To gain access to MLS sites, you will need to contact the Board of Realtors in your area of interest and find out their requirements. If they require a real estate license, you may need to form a relationship with an agent.
