HP17 or HP19 absolutely. Don't believe the baloney about any of the more remedial calculators. If you truly want to play in the note business, you NEED to be able to easily calculate uneven cash flows and multiple cash flows easily. A 12C can do it, but not as easily. Many of the others do not do well with uneven cash flows or do them at all. Some, like the HP10B will do them, but they are not as easy to use.

An HP17B is about 75 dollars and worth every penny. The HP19B is more expensive, harder to find and only have some added "Text" features for keeping track of names, numbers, etc. They are a sturdy calculator though. My HP19 and my Timex Ironman Triathalon watch were about the only things to survive a fire that destroyed my office a few years ago.

A nice option that is available these days can be to pick up a used calculator on eBay. (www.ebay.com) One thing to consider is one of the HP Palmtop calculators like the HP99, HP100 or higher. You may pick one of them up for the same price as a new calculator and you have all the HP calculator functions as well as a full blown computer at almost the same size. Click on the link below and it will show you the HP palmtops available. For example, I noticed an HP320LX palmtop with the current bid price of $77 dollars!!!!
