Where can I obtain info on tax liens?

I'm interested in obtaining information about tax liens on residential property (ideally in the state of Michigan). I've only heard about this investment option but it's something I'd like to explore. I'm sure I'm not the first guy that's thought of this so I'm positive there is serious competition out there...can $ still be made in this field? Any/all thoughts would be appreciated.

If anyone knows of any books, articles or sites where I can go to learn more that would be greatly appreciated too.

Finally, I thought I heard that in Michigan they had done away with tax liens and just sold the PROPERTIES outright via the internet (or maybe that was just in my county). Is this common? And when you're looking into properties listed how in the heck do you translate the hieroglyphics (sp?) of the plat to an actual street address?
